TDF 2009 Stage 6 Mighty Thor

When we were kids, my uncle and I used to pretend we were cartoon heroes. I was Super Girl and he was Mighty Thor.

Well, today was Mighty Thor Hoshovd’s day to win a stage before the Pyrenees start shaking out the rest of the field. It would have been mighty nice to have had a Spaniard win in Barcelona, but, the Kings of Castile just wouldn’t be appeased today.

Notes of a consummate tourist
A colleague recently returned from his one-man mountain bike tour of Spain that began in Barcelona. My grandfather said that our family lineage travels back to Barcelona, on some circuitous route or another, and he spoke Catalan. Incidentally, this is the home of that unusual bullet-shaped building, the Torre Agbar, you might have seen in travelogues, and of the 1992 Summer Olympics. That’s another story.
