life is like the tide…it comes and goes on its own time

TDF 2009 Stage 11-13 R we there yet?

Just when we were yawning from a relatively uneventful couple of stages, other than the 4th stage win for the Cav Man, Levi had to withdraw after yesterday’s nasty crash that left him with a broken wrist. This doesn’t bode well for Team Astana without a key experienced member who could help either Armstrong or Contador to the finish.

The Alps are ahead, we’re not there yet. I think that’s when things will start heating up, again.

Other major names dropped this morning, as well, like Denis Menchov, and another Astana member, Popovych.

Armstrong doesn’t know the Col de Plazerwasel like Saxo Bank, but he knows how to take a mountain. Lance takes the front of the main field, with Contador right beside, giving the boys behind them a good run! Contador crossed the summit ahead of Armstrong, but the older veteran is still going strong (no pun intended) in 7th place over the Col.

Popo is trying to catch up. When has he ever really given up!

So, it’s Cervelo’s Haussler who wins the stage; Nocentini keeps the maillot jaune one more day; the Alps are ahead where real changes are expected in the GC.

I have a time trial tomorrow, in preparation for my next marathon in November. It’s only a 30-minute trial. Compared to the boys on the bikes, it’s nothing! But, for me, it will be…interesting.
